On our way to church this morning afternoon, my mother and I were arguing and acting goofy, just our normal crazy selves. My sister must have been a little irritable or something, cough, cough, because she said, "Sheesh, you guys are acting like the Golden Girls!" Um, okay?!?! I guess the way they bicker and carry on, etc.
So, of course, that led to who would be who (or whom, or whatever is the proper English there!) if we were the Golden Girls. It was QUICKLY decided by Amy that I would be Dorothy. Gee thanks! LOL I LOVE Dorothy, but am I that bad? Well, I decided that Momma Amy would DEFINITELY be Rose, (she disagreed, but if she chose I was Dorothy, I got to pick who she was.)
That left Sophia or Blanche for Mom. She said she wanted to be Blanche, but she was too "slutty" (she will kill me for this, but hey, she said it!) but I told her NO WAY, OLD WOMAN! It is Sophia for you! (Doesn't that comment about Blanche prove she should be Sophia?)
Well, at church, towards the end, Cullen had made a bathroom run. He stopped by to hug me, of course, and said he wished that me, his mom, and Lowella (all members of our church) would be like the "Golden Sisters" and be his back up singers. He threw me off for a second. (He meant "Pointer Sisters," I later discovered.) I said, "You mean the Golden Girls?"
"NOOOOOO!!!!" Cullen said. "Well, if you were the Golden Girls, you would DEFINITELY be that grumpy tall one! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Oh, you are sooo funny, Cullen. I would make you Sophia, the little old short one!" And so on and so forth our conversation went.
I told Mom, "Cullen just called me Dorothy too!" and we had a great laugh about how I had been "declared" Dorothy twice in one day.
No problem, right? I have broad shoulders. (Just like Dorothy.) Til we get home and Amy turns on the Internet.
"Hey, you guys! Guess who died? Bea Arthur."
Good thing I am not a paranoid type person, you know. Good thing I am not obsessive over such things as this, you know. Good thing people always call me Dorothy, so getting compared to Dorothy twice in one day is absolutely NO BIGGIE. Good thing something bad always never happens to me on Friday the 13th and all. You know, if, by chance, I don't make it til tomorrow, I love you all and tell a good "Dorothy" story at my viewing!
Of all the days to be called "Dorothy" not once, but TWICE!
A picture of "Dorothy" with our other favorite "old lady" Jessica Fletcher, aka Angela Lansbury.
So, in tribute to my sick Dorothy-esque sense of humor, TWO Golden Girls down, TWO to go. Wanna take bets on who goes next? I'd say Rose. Just for the record.
