Okay, today's True Story Tuesday is one that is ALL Mr. Daddy's fault! (No, really!) Let me explain.......
It all started with THIS picture of Mr. Daddy for an I ♥ Faces photo entry:
I knew he reminded me of someone, but I just couldn't put my thumb on it. I pondered and pondered. Thought and thunk. Then it hit me. During an episode of NCIS. (If you watch it, you will know why. DiNozzo is obsessed with him.) Okay, Mr. Daddy, get ready for what I consider to be a HUGE compliment.
Mr. Daddy reminds me of Magnum, PI. Yep, Mr. Tom Selleck himself. Only, I don't recall Magnum ever sticking his tongue out, but I am sure he did. (I searched Yahoo images for one of him sticking his tongue out, no such luck!) Can't you see the resemblance?
Anywhoo.... on with my embarrassing True Story Tuesday.
My mother, my sister and myself were eating out one evening after we had taken Dylan for one of his over night visits with his dad. We had some Wal-marting to do, so we went that night so we wouldn't be missing our little guy so much. While we were eating, we were carrying on, laughing and joking, telling stories of the week and such. I had mentioned that I finally figured out who I thought Mr. Daddy looked like in that I ♥ Faces picture, Magnum PI, and everyone agreed. (I had brought the whole family in on my ponderings, by the way.)
We had been discussing earlier how we wished we knew what Dylan was doing, if he was safe, etc. My mom said, half jokingly, "I know, we could hire a private investigator. We could get Magnum!" Ha ha, snort snort. Then I said one of the most stupid things I had in a while, and, of course, was serious as a heart attack.
Me: "Why would we get Magnum for a private investigator?"
Blank stares from my mom and YOUNGER sister (who even knew what the PI stood for without ever watching the show) that QUICKLY turned into ROAROUSLY LOUD LAUGHTER. Right in the middle of Ponderosa Steakhouse.
Me: "WHAT? What is so funny? TELL ME NOW!"
Mom: "Magnum P I, as in PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR!"
Oh. Ooops.
Give me a break. I was only like 5 when the show was on, okay?
:)

MOMMA AMY
OH MY GOODNESS!
I cannot tell you how hard we laughed when we saw this! I am SO glad you linked up!
It embarrassed the heck outta Mr. Daddy (which is a rare feat!) and I could hardly contain myself. Well, okay... I didn't contain myself at all, but can you blame me??? This was so stinkin' hilarious!
Now that you say it, I can totally see it.
Gee, I think you just inspired a whole 'nother blog post (shh, don't tell Mr. Daddy!)
Thanks so much for linking up... this was too funny! And yeah... Magnum PI was before my time too ;)
Nope don't see it at all,No way... it did make for a funny story though..
And it was during my era, but I was working nights then, and it was before the recording era. (snicker) so I have only seen like one episode of Magnum...But Quigly down under, is like one of my favorite all time movies...LOL
So if I have to resemble someone I guess it is pretty cool for it to be Tom Seleck...LOL
One other lady commented that I reminded her of Wil Primos.. (if you watch any hunting shows you will no who he is)
